No Snow this Winter
Lots of snow on the mountains but no chance to go this season as MS raised it's ugly head.
Please help me raise money for Carl and I to continue with lessons and to buy our own adaptive equipment for next season - 2012.
2010 SKI SEASON SUMMARY
We have found that the facilities at Coronet Peak are excellent for me in a wheelchair. I can be dropped right at the front door. There's an elevator to the upstairs facilities. Disabled toilets are well situated, but best of all is the outdoor area with under-concrete heating that keeps the snow away making getting around really easy.
I learned to sit-ski this winter starting with lessons from the Ruhepehu Adaptive Programme at Turoa, Mt Ruhepehu. This is a picture of me sitting in a mono-ski at a Parafed “Have-a-Go” day. My stepson, Carl is keen to learn on an adapted snowboard.
Our first Adaptive Snowsport lessons were great fun and we both continued with these over the rest of the season.
As of the 24/7/10 I've had 5 lessons, and have loved every moment. I have found my prefered adaptive ski machine and truly feel like I am skiing again.
Had my 6th lesson on the 7th of August, and I am using the chairlifts and skiing on the upper mountain's intermeddiate trails.
Carl had his second adaptive snowboarding lesson at Whakapapa, Mt Ruhepehu on 13/9/10.
I went to Queenstown and sit-skied at the The Remarkables and Coronet Peak - awesome!
Last sit-ski of the season at Mt Ruapehu - Turoa side. Went solo with a buddy, had a great time.
